Bringing Health Closer to Rural Communities

In August, we returned to rural schools with the Health Team for a week of primary care in the communities. We visited schools No. 1037 Alma Sollazo de Gramajo, No. 522 Gastón Bautista Zalazar, No. 853 in San Francisco, and No. 851 Gaucho de Güemes, where volunteers in pediatrics, dentistry, nutrition, biochemistry, and social work provided care to 80 families and 146 children.

For these families, access to healthcare is a huge challenge. They live many kilometers away from hospitals and medical centers, and the condition of rural roads makes the journey even more difficult. That’s why our team focused on disease prevention, training, and follow-up on clinical cases. We also conducted tests to detect possible cases of Chagas disease, a recurring concern in the north of the country.

Thank you to each volunteer and professional who joined this mission, to the teachers who helped organize the sessions, and to those who donated supplies to make this trip possible. In November, we will return to continue bringing health and well-being to more rural families. Let’s keep working for a future with greater healthcare access for all rural families!
