We have some news that fills us with joy: Fundación San Genaro has been selected to be part of Abanderados 2026, the award that each year recognizes and highlights people from across the country who are working to transform the lives of others.
Out of more than 800 nominations from all over Argentina, Patricio Marquínez, Executive Director of our Foundation, was chosen as one of the eight Abanderados of this year’s edition.
And although Patricio is the one representing us this time, we feel that this recognition truly belongs to all of us.
Because behind San Genaro there is an incredible team. There are teachers who open the doors of their schools to us, professionals and volunteers who share their time and knowledge, companies and donors who believe in our work and, above all, rural families and communities who have allowed us to walk alongside them for many years.
From our very first steps until today, we have learned that supporting a community begins with listening. That is why we work alongside rural schools and families in Santiago del Estero, developing projects focused on education, healthcare, access to safe drinking water, and community development, seeking practical solutions to the specific needs of each community. educación, salud, acceso al agua segura y desarrollo comunitario, buscando respuestas concretas a las necesidades de cada lugar.
Over the past year, we reached 34 rural schools, supported 773 children and 290 families, installed filters to improve access to safe drinking water, provided healthcare services, and continued creating training and development opportunities for women in these communities.
Having this journey recognized by Abanderados today is incredibly moving for us. But above all, it gives us a tremendous opportunity: for more people to discover these communities, their stories, and everything we can achieve when we work together.
And this story is only just beginning.
From October 30 to November 19, voting will be open to choose the 2026 Abanderado of the Year.
So very soon, we are going to need you once again.
